We Begin Again with Missionary News ...

Tuesday night we met with President Leavitt to have Chase set apart. 

After our meeting we drove to Pasco and secured a room, ate dinner and tried to get some sleep.

Wednesday morning - 4:00am to be exact - we got up and got ready, Terry gave Chase a father's blessing and we went to the airport.  Things went quite smoothly and we said our good-byes,

Then we waited, and waited, and waited until finally we watched his plane take off ...

All of these photos were taken with a phone, so they aren't very good quality, though we are happy to have them at all. BJo was my photographer and she did a great job with what she had to work with. 

It's been tricky - it took me awhile to get them off my phone onto the computer.  After a few attempts on my own I had to turn it over to someone who knows a bit more - and finally he was home to help me - Connor was my tech man!

Sometimes my kids are such great help! :)

We came back home and got right back into daily living;

- all the guys went to the fields working whatever position each was given,

- BJo left to basketball camp,

- I wrote to Chase, visited with a friend, planted some veggies and flowers, worked on laundry and ...,

- Dana and Tawnee came over and made raspberry jam ... mmmmm good! 

That means I also got to play with Akleigh and read books to Auger.  So fun!  Does anyone know Dopey Dinosaur?  We have three books about Dopey (from many years ago) and they are some of Auger's favorites.  He likes Little Quack too, and ..., there are a few he really likes. :)

Checking Things Off One by One - But Adding them Just as Fast!

4 batches of freezer jam - done! (We'll add it to the 11 quarts we made last Saturday.)

Another night of bailing - done!

Harrowbedding - getting done today!

As the list dwindles on the top, it lengthens at the bottom. 

I suppose that is Life at it's Best!  It's what keeps us going, and going, ..., ...!

My Kitchen!

I am grateful for my kitchen. It's not the latest, nor the greatest, but it is mine and it's in my home, and it is where I will be spending a lot of my time today.
It is a large area and I have a large counter with great space to roll out pie crusts.

I just happened to have this picture in my computer that shows the counter top I roll my pie crust out on. This time it was used for preparing corn for the freezer. It was taken many years ago, but it is still a big space that I love - and it includes a little bonus ... I love all my helpers!



We are truly blessed to have the appliances and kitchen equipment that is available to us today. Electric ovens instead of a wood burning fireplace or stove is really a wonderful blessing.

Weekend Report

We enjoyed having BJo and Anthony with us for the week. It seemed to go by fast.

We picked up Gregory from the airport Saturday and Adena came later that night after Connor got home from basketball camp. We had a nice visit for the weekend, the last one before Gregory and Adena leave for home/California (on the 15th). They have done so much for us and we appreciate their help.

Adena made this cake - isn't it awesome! It tastes good too!

We had fun together as we celebrated the 4th of July. We played, blew bubbles, put a couple puzzles together (one was small), ate, and listened to some conference messages Sunday morning.

We watched the fireworks from our apartment deck. We didn't get to see the low ones, but there were so many high fireworks that we didn't miss much.

The celebrating continued the next morning with Adena's birthday.

They left after lunch and I started cleaning and bottling cherries. We got a couple boxes of cherries from Janet and Harris and Adena brought them and some jars and canning utensils so that we could bottle them here. I didn't want to make that the project of our last morning together so I just kept it all here and did it myself after they left. I only did 14 jars, but I'm going to have to soak my fingers in Clorox for sure.

We ended our busy day with a relaxing visit with Dennis and MaryAnn. It was good to see them again and it added to our desire for our return home, to be closer to family.

Fruit...

We just got 2 cantaloupe from our garden, thanks to Michael's great efforts this summer. They were ripe and beautiful and tasted like cantaloupe - wow!

It's canning season, and we've been doing a lot of it. Thomas and Dana have been doing some too. Here is a photo of them canning their peaches today.
